✓ Does not destroy the soil’s microstructure
The FarmDroid FD20 is extremely lightweight, at only 900kg it ensures that the soil’s microstructure is not damaged.
Watch the sowing system in action ↗The sowing system on the FarmDroid consists of a seeding disc which works in two stages. Firstly, there is a seed disk which takes a set amount of seeds out per rotation and then drops the seeds individually down a seed valve. Secondly, at the bottom of the valve there is a shutter and each individual seed is held here until the right location is found. Once in the right location a signal from the robot opens the shutter and the seed is dropped from a height of 2-3 centimetres. This very high level of precision planting is required for later weeding passes.

FarmDroid R&D constantly works together with farmers and ourselves as distributors to test out new seeds.
New seeding system
The FarmDroid +Seed 14 mm opens up the FD20 to a much wider range of field crops for UK commercial growers. Designed for larger seed, it brings the same herbicide-free precision farming approach to beans, peas, maize, chickpeas, soybeans and similar-sized crops.
RTK GPS delivers around 8 mm precision at the seed, giving every plant a known position for accurate follow-on weeding. That means cleaner establishment and less reliance on manual labour or herbicides.

Four solar panels deliver the charge to two batteries that power the FarmDroid FD20, making it 100% CO2-neutral.
With an average sowing speed of 450-550m/hr, the FarmDroid FD20 works alone whilst the owner can carry out other jobs.
